Chris Day – Cycling Case Study

Chris is a very enthusiastic cyclist who rides for Selby Cycling Club and is based in the beautiful county of North Yorkshire.

BACKGROUND

Chris has been riding for three years and loves cycling.

He’d started time trialling, with decent times of  24 minute 10 mile TTs and 56 minute 25 mile TTs.

CHALLENGES

• Chris’s enthusiasm for cycling means he can ride too much!

• With only three years riding, endurance needed work.

• Lack of race experience.

• Mechanical and aero efficiency lacking due to bike position.

SOLUTION

Focused on building solid foundations with base work.

Built in specific race distance intervals to ‘pull’ and ‘push’ FTP.

Targeted key races on well known ‘fast’ courses.

Analysed and optimised kit choices for races.

Optimised Chris’s bio-mechanical position then fine tuned this position further with an aerodynamic focused bike fit.

RESULTS

Over 13% improvement in 10 mile TT time.

Over 8% improvement in 25 mile TT time.

 10%+ increase in FTP.

"Andy has helped me hit personal bests this season, going from placing mid 20's in open TT's to consistency placing in the top 5. He's helped me do this through setting consistent training and feedback, major work on my TT position and equipment advice. He also helped me tick off my other goal for the season which was to complete the Majorca 312. I wouldn't have been able to hit these goals without his great coaching, encouragement and feedback."
